The form of Lomi that I was able to experience and learn in Hawaii is a so-called lineage teaching.
It is not just the “technique” that is taught, but a state of being and way of life in close connection with your inner guidance, the elements and the guidance of the Kumu (teachers) – the living and those who have already left their body. The intention of the Big Island and Ho’omana Lomi Lomi is one of „working to the bones”, where, according to Hawaiian teachings, the mana, the life energy, resides.

Chants (Hawaiian chants/prayers) at the beginning and sometimes also during the session open up spaces and levels that cannot be reached with the hands.

Lomi Lomi involves working with fingers, hands and forearms (sometimes also feet and knees), which are in deep contact with the body.

Rhythmic movements and long forearm strokes realign the body and bring the whole person back into balance.

Lomi Lomi is so much more than a massage technique; it is part of an attitude towards life that is based on respectful and loving interactions with one another.

Lomi Lomi can release blockages on a physical, mental and spiritual level. The harmony of body, mind and soul is restored and the energy can flow again.
